CO-FOUNDER / HEAD OF PRODUCT & TECHNOLOGY

Julian is the technical mastermind behind Hal Systems. He is passionate about spreading the adoption of HAL’s technology, so it can have the greatest environmental impact possible.

For over 18 years, Julian has been the Director of Two Feathers, a multi-disciplinary consultancy in the building and design industry. Julian is an expert in Building Information Modelling, and brings a huge wealth of experience and deep understanding of commercial buildings.

CO-FOUNDER / HEAD OF STRATEGY & OPERATIONS

Vicky is the diligent strategist in the team, and enjoys devising lateral solutions to go-to-market challenges. Vicky oversees business operations, marketing and sales strategy.

Together with Julian, Vicky was the Director of the building and design consultancy Two Feathers, where she oversaw the management of the firm’s design projects. Vicky has extensive experience in working with cultural institutions, including Arts Centre Melbourne, State Library of Victoria, and Heide Museum of Modern Art.

PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER

James brings to HAL an exceptional breadth of knowledge and experience in programming, data science and energy research.  James is passionate about applying creative solutions to difficult problems. 

James has a PhD in Physics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich, and a Master of Science from University of Melbourne.  James’ experience includes working as a Artificial Intelligence Consultant in Energy at Helmholtz AI, Researcher in Particle Physics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Scientific Computing Specialist at Steinbuch Centre for Computing, and Research Computing Assistant at ARC. 

LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Jason’s wealth of experience and knowledge in software development in the HVAC / controls industry is seminal to HAL’s product design and architecture.

Jason brings depth of skill and industry insight from his work on numerous engineering projects in his roles at Smardt Inc, AE Smith & Son, Elliot Air Conditioning Controls, and Soltaro. Jason’s passionate about tackling climate change and innovation in the HVAC industry.

TECHNICAL SYSTEMS SPECIALIST

Rob’s exceptional industry expertise and technical advice is an invaluable contribution to HAL’s building integration strategy.  Rob’s specialist insider knowledge means HAL can be engineered for fast and easy installations. 

As a commercial HVAC expert and master systems integrator with over 17 years of experience, Rob understands all facets of a building’s digital ecosystem. Rob was formerly the National Business Development Manager at Airmaster, where he specialised in delivering digital control solutions in commercial projects.

CLOUD SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Tuan is our amazing AWS certified cloud specialist. When he’s not working on HAL’s cloud components, Tuan is a prodigious Senior Engineer at Atlassian. Tuan has immense software engineering experience having previously worked for National Australia Bank, ME Bank, Amdocs, and Seebo Networks.

Tuan has a PhD in Computer Systems Networking & Telecommunications from Swinburne University, where he worked on improving energy efficiency in supercomputing systems. Tuan is passionate about engineering innovations in climate-tech and in improving services to provide better user experiences.
